Dental Aesthetics

With your smile
you make the world more beautiful.

Although the primary need for dental treatment is to achieve an optimal function, our goal is to integrate aesthetics into our treatment plan. This is achieved by using modern porcelain, aesthetic composites and dental whitening.

Our techniques used are:

  • Porcelain crowns and bridges
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Feldspathic faces
  • Zirconium crowns and bridges
  • Aesthetic fillings
  • Whitening
  • Facial fillings from the lower third
 External Dental Whitening

Coronas y puentes de porcelana
Porcelain is a highly aesthetic material. In order to place this crown, the tooth must be lowered slightly to allow sufficient space for the ceramic material. These types of crowns are placed when the aesthetic requirements are very high, as in the case of anterior sector teeth or when a change in the color and shape of the anterior teeth is desired (for example anterior teeth with many fillings or diastemas between teeth).

Porcelain veneers
They are a type of aesthetic veneers that are fixed by a special resin to the front of the tooth. They have a thickness between 0.8-1.5 mm, therefore they require a carving of the surface of the tooth and to compensate the thickness of the veneer.

Feldspathic facesCompared to a traditional veneer in feldspathic veneers there is no preparation of the tooth or it is minimal because of its minimum thickness. So, if you wanted to withdraw in the future, the tooth would remain intact.

A study, with a diagnostic wax, is necessary to evaluate each case. Since it is not always indicated. This type of veneer obtains retention by the dental enamel (it is the most superficial layer of the crown of the tooth), so if the tooth is very small or has a broken incisal edge it is necessary to evaluate if it is better to place another type of crown.

Zirconium (ZrSiO4) is a mineral of the group of silicates and was discovered in 1789 by the German chemist M. H. Klaproth.

Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) or zirconia is a compound of the zirconium element that appears in nature and for 10-15 years is used in dentistry. It is partially stabilized with yttrium and enriched with aluminum. Hence, positive properties such as its high flexural strength (> 1400 MPa *), hardness (1200 HV *) and a Weibull modulus of 15.84 *

Zirconium crowns are made by this mineral, is a white, highly biocompatible (not a metal). They are 50% heavier than a traditional metal-ceramic crown and when the gingiva is retracted, the grayish ridge of the gingiva is not visible due to its white color. With them it is possible to conceal a dark natural tooth giving it a better aesthetic. These crowns are covered with porcelain, which allows you to give a range of colors to suit each patient.

In patients who are allergic to metals, this type of crown is indicated, since they have no metal and are biocompatible. They can also be used in the treatment with implants, placing the Zirconium crowns.

Teeth whitening

As you get older, your teeth darken naturally. Even by drinking coffee, tea, foods that carry coloring and by tobacco acquire teeth throughout life a darker coloration. Also fillings, cavities and tartar make the teeth acquire a different coloration.

  • Inner tooth whitening
  • Inner tooth whitening

Internal tooth whitening is performed when a single tooth is affected, due to a change in tooth color, a tooth necrosis or a root canal treatment. In the necrotic tooth it is necessary to perform the treatment of endodontics prior to bleaching, since it is only used in non-vital teeth.

Dental Aesthetics

In external tooth whitening a paste or gel, based on hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, is applied. It can be done at home or in the dental office.

In home treatment, the dentist delivers splints to measure where a small amount of this gel is deposited. Take it for about 1 hour, every day. Depending on the concentration of the gel the treatment can last from two weeks to a month.

 External Dental Whitening

In the outpatient treatment the dentist applies a paste or gel on the vestibular (visible external) side of the tooth, previously protecting the gingiva with a specific separator. By activation by heat and / or special light, these products release molecules of H²O², which are able to “seep” through the enamel of the teeth through the target tubules. There are approximately 15000 dentinal tubules / mm². Thus, the internal tissue (dentin) that gives color to the teeth, undergoes a process of oxidation that results in a whitening of the dental tissues. Thus, it is a whitening from “inside” the tooth.

Other treatments

Dental implantology

The implants are described as an artificial tooth root. They are anchored in the bone, in those area of the mandible or maxilla without teeth remaining. They have to be integrated by the surrounding tissues and be capable of supporting the load during chewing on a permanent basis.

Endodontics is trying to save the tooth, which otherwise would have to be removed. Removes the pulp tissue (nerves, vessels and tissues), cleaning the ducts of the roots and sealed them with a material, to isolate it from the entrance of bacterial agents.

Paediatric Dentistry

El tratamiento de los más pequeños desde edades muy tempranas es esencial para evitar problemas en su dentición definitiva. Es muy importante realizar empastes en los dientes deciduos (de leche) para mantener el espacio para los definitivos que van a salir después.
