In the treatment of periodontal disease it is primordial to release the periodontal gingival and ligament of the inflammatory process. The procedure and intensity of the treatment of periodontal disease depend to a great extent on the initial state of the patient. Many times, the dentist at first sight can detect if the patient is affected by a periodontal disease.
Thus, the gum is visibly discolored. The pink color, which has a healthy gingiva, turns into a dark color. It is essential to assess the status of each patient. To do this, a Periodontal Study must be performed, where we reflect how each tooth of the patient is affected. For this study we introduced a periodontal probe (a fine instrument, with millimeter marks) between the gingiva and the tooth, to assess the depth of the periodontal pockets.
To explain roughly what periodontal disease is, you can see this drawing.
In thefirst image you can see a healthy gingiva, without affecting the gingiva.
In the next image, Gingivitis, there is already a slight inflammation of the gingiva. It is generally produced by the accumulation of bacterial plaque, being insufficient dental brushing. It can be seen that the periodontal catheter begins to take a somewhat larger measure than in the case of healthy gingiva. Gingivitis can be cured with a simple dental cleaning, mouthwashes and proper daily dental brushing.
In an initial periodontitis, there is already a slight loss of bone, there is accumulation of tartar below the visible level of the gingiva and the periodontal probe is taking greater measures, to the point that in severe periodontitis, loss of support bone of the tooth is so advanced that the tooth presents mobility and may even fall by itself.
Periodontitis requires periodontal treatment. First you have to evaluate each tooth present in the mouth and know the severity of the process. A Periodontal Study is performed using the Periodontal Probe.
This is done under local anesthesia. With the same anesthesia, a scraping of the root surface is done to eliminate all the calculation that has been deposited on it.
This treatment is done with ultrasound, special curettes and mouthwashes based on chlorhexidine. The healing process lasts approximately 28 days. It is very important to carry out correct hygiene instructions after this treatment.
After six weeks a reevaluation is carried out, where another measurement of the bags is made and each tooth is evaluated individually. In some cases it is decided on the need to perform a surgical treatment, to reduce the more aggressive periodontal pockets.
The treatment of children from very early ages is essential to avoid problems in their final dentition. It is very important to fill in the deciduous teeth (of milk) to keep space for the final ones that will come out later.
It deals with the correction of teeth in malposition and when there are problems of malocclusion (the patient does not have a correct bite). This technique achieves that parts are placed in a position aligned, aesthetic and of course functional. Today this treatment can be performed at any age, children, adults and seniors.
Although the need for dental treatment is to achieve optimal function, our goal is to integrate into our treatment plan aesthetics. This got it using modern porcelains, aesthetic composite and dental whitening.
